Amtech Associates (Automation Mechanization Technology) was founded in 1982 by Mr. Alan Bodycombe who had been an associate of Mr. Foreman’s at FMC Corporation. In late 1983 Mr. Foreman left FMC and joined Mr. Bodycombe as a full partner. Mr. Bodycombe retired in November 1987.
In January 1996 Mr. Chris Mitchell left Cal-State Material Handling Systems and joined Mr. Foreman as an associate. Mr. Mitchell worked on developing relationships with new lines of material handling and packaging machine equipment manufactures for distribution through dealers and systems integrators. In December 2001 Mr. Mitchell purchased Amtech Associates from Mr. Foreman. Soon after, Mr. Mitchell determined that the distributor and systems integrators base was shrinking due to manufacturing moving overseas. He knew there was a real need for direct customer support in system design, engineering, equipment selection and overall project management.
In 2002 Amtech started focusing more on packaging systems and machinery in the Food, Beverage, Household goods and chemical industries. These industries now make up the majority of Amtech’s business while other industries (ie. Cannabis, Distribution, Parcel, Manufacturing) are requiring Amtech’s support, as well.
Now in 2022 Amtech is celebrating 40 years of business. Our original direction and still is to represent manufactures on a commission basis only, in automation, conveyor and packaging machinery. Our customers are not charged for our service in design, engineering, equipment selection and project management. This partnership approach has been vital in Amtech’s and Amtech’s customers success and will continue to be the method of business.
